Adopting a new pet can be a life-changing decision. As the pet owner, you will be dedicating yourself to raising a new member of your family! Whether you adopt a pet from a breeder, a shelter, rescue organization, or friends/family, it can be a very rewarding experience. As there are many pets in Chicago who are waiting for a home and their special owner, it can be especially fulfilling to adopt a pet from a shelter or rescue organization. At Portage Park Animal Hospital, we want to encourage pet adoptions and offer pet owners quality veterinary care at an affordable price.
Portage Park Animal Hospital Pet Special
We offer a free initial exam AND a free fecal check for new pets who have been adopted from a shelter or rescue organization.
Free Exam
All new patients at Portage Park Animal Hospital will receive a free first exam! Your first exam will include a full physical exam. We will check the health of your pet from head to tail and go over nutritional guidelines, discuss flea, tick, and heartworm preventatives, and go over any questions you may have. If your pet is due for routine bloodwork or vaccinations, we can provide these services during your exam as well.
Free Fecal Check
Fecal checks allow veterinarians to check your pet for intestinal parasites such as roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, coccidia, and giardia. These intestinal parasites can live your pet’s gastrointestinal tract and are not detected without a fecal exam, unlike external parasites like fleas and ticks. Routine fecal exams are the best way to ensure that your pet and your household are safe from intestinal parasites.
The Fine Print
If a new pet is adopted from a shelter or rescue organization, please bring valid adoption paperwork with you for your first visit to Portage Park Animal Hospital.
